Lang Toun Cycles Community Bike Shop
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Greener Kirkcaldy's social enterprise community bike shop, Lang Toun Cycles, on celebrating five years on Kirkcaldy High Street; notes that nearly 4,000 bikes have been refurbished or repaired by it since work began; believes that encouraging people to travel actively has huge benefits for health and wellbeing, the natural environment and society as a whole; welcomes the shop's work to make cycling accessible to all through the sale of affordable and refurbished bikes, and by using the Bairns Bike Library and e-bike loan schemes for the public and NHS staff, and commends the shop, noting that these activities have saved around 64,500kg of CO2, the equivalent of taking 41 petrol cars off the road.
