Recognition of East Lothian’s Contribution to Oscar-nominated Frankenstein

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates all involved in the production of Frankenstein, the feature film partly shot in East Lothian, which has been nominated for nine Academy Awards (the Oscars); notes that scenes were filmed both at Gosford House and Grounds and at Seacliff Beach in East Lothian, showcasing the area’s landscape as part of the film’s visual identity; acknowledges that the production has received nominations for Best Picture, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, for Jacob Elordi, Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay), Best Music (Original Score), Best Sound, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Makeup and Hairstyling and Best Costume Design; recognises what it sees as the continued growth of Scotland’s screen sector and the increasing international demand for Scottish filming locations; acknowledges the important role that East Lothian’s communities, heritage sites and local authorities play in supporting such productions, and wishes the cast, crew and all contributors every success at the Oscars.
