A Listening Ear Receives National Lottery Funding
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates A Listening Ear (SCIO) on receiving a £289,516 grant from the National Lottery Community Fund; understands that this significant investment will support the continuation of its one-to-one befriending service in the community, its telephone befriending work, its No One Dies Alone service, its befriending activities in care homes, and its Friendly Cup groups; further understands that these services will benefit around 250 people and involve approximately 146 volunteers over the next three years; acknowledges what it sees as the vital importance of compassionate, person-centred support for individuals living in remote and rural areas who have no access to a local hospice and may otherwise face isolation at some of the most challenging moments in their lives; commends the dedication of the volunteers and staff who deliver these life-affirming services, and wishes A Listening Ear (SCIO) every success as it continues what it sees as its essential work supporting communities across the region.
