Celebrating Fiona the Sheep’s Twin Lambs

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Fiona the sheep, formerly known as Britain’s loneliest sheep, on the birth of her twin lambs, newly named Felicia and Fergus to pay homage to Shrek, at Dalscone Farm in Dumfries; notes that Fiona was rescued in 2023 from the base of a cliff on the Cromarty Firth after being stranded for several years; recognises the role of professional shearer Cammy Wilson, who led the operation that safely removed Fiona from the shoreline and transported her to a new home; commends Dalscone Farm and its staff, including farmer Ben Best, for their care of Fiona over the past two years and for ensuring that she was healthy enough to become a mother; welcomes reports that both lambs are thriving and that Fiona has bonded strongly with them; acknowledges the public interest generated by Fiona’s story, including its role in raising awareness of loneliness and mental health within the farming community, and wishes Fiona, her lambs and all at Dalscone Farm continued health and success.
