Celebrating Plean House and Stables Gaining Charitable Status

The motion

That the Parliament celebrates the achievement of Plean House and Stables gaining charitable status; understands that the project has ambitious plans to restore Plean House and Stables in Plean Country Park for the benefit of the community; notes that the house and stables were built in 1819 and fell into disrepair in the 1970s, when their owners moved away from the area, and have since been damaged by fire; understands that the plans include restoring the stables to provide a café, an exhibition and a community space; commends those involved for the work they have done so far to progress the project and engage the community, including regular fundraising events and information sharing; understands that the board is starting the process of a community asset transfer; commends the ambition of this project and the value it will bring to the community, and notes what it sees as the power of community land ownership in Stirling and across Scotland.
