Congratulating Bellshill Athletic Junior Football Club

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Bellshill Athletic Football Club on winning the West of Scotland League Division Two title on 2 May 2026 following what it sees as a resounding home victory over Forth Wanderers; notes that this marks the club’s first league title since the 2003-04 season and secures promotion to the seventh tier of Scottish football; further notes the club’s outstanding season to date, winning 24 of 29 league matches with only two draws and three defeats; commends manager Kieran McGuinness, his coaching staff and players on their achievement; recognises the continued growth of the club both on and off the park, including the development of an academy comprising 24 teams and a growing matchday support, numbering several hundred people; acknowledges the efforts of the club committee, led by David Brown, alongside volunteers and supporters, in establishing the club as a cornerstone of the Bellshill community, and wishes everyone connected with Bellshill Athletic continued success for the future.
