Abseil for CHAS in Memory of Laia
The motion
That the Parliament commends Chloe Wilson, Megan Cuthbert, Rhona Chambers, Hayley Brown, Eiren Stewart, Laura McArdle, Lee Jenkins and David Wilson for undertaking a 131-foot abseil at the Port of Leith Distillery on 9 May 2026 in aid of Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS); understands that the fundraising challenge was organised in memory of Laia and in recognition of the exceptional support provided by CHAS and staff at Robin House during an immensely difficult time for the family; notes that the group originally aimed to raise £1,000 but raised over £3,000 through the generosity of supporters; recognises what it sees as the invaluable work carried out by CHAS in supporting babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions and their families across Scotland, and praises all those involved for their courage, compassion and commitment to giving back in Laia’s memory.
