Tribute to Derek Mather, Whisky Guru and Owner of Artisan Restaurant in Wishaw

The motion

That the Parliament notes with deep sadness the sudden passing of Derek Mather, owner of Artisan restaurant on Main Street, Wishaw; understands that Derek opened his restaurant in 2008 and built a highly regarded reputation for his innovative cooking and exceptional whisky expertise, amassing a collection of more than 3,800 whiskies; recognises that he was previously named Whisky Guru of the Year at the Scottish Pub and Restaurant Awards and was widely respected for his passion, creativity and dedication to his craft; acknowledges what it sees as the significant contribution Derek made to the local hospitality industry and the lasting legacy he leaves within the Wishaw community and beyond, and extends its deepest condolences to his wife Fiona, his mother, Marion, his father, William, his sister, Nicola, and his wider family and friends
