Stromness Community Centre Transferred to Community Ownership
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Stromness Community Centre on having recently transferred to community ownership under the Stromness Community Development Trust; recognises that it was previously managed by Orkney Islands Council; believes that this transfer to community ownership marks an important milestone, creating an opportunity for the wider Stromness community to have a say in the future of the centre; notes that, going forward, the focus will be on developing a sustainable operating model for the centre and strengthening its role as an active community asset; congratulates the Stromness community on this exciting transition, and wishes those involved with this next phase of development at the Ccntre the very best.
