The motion

That the Parliament commends the organisers and participants of the 10-hour fitness charity challenge that was held in April 2026 in North Berwick and Gullane in support of girls and young women in Rwanda; notes that the event, which was organised by local fitness coach Kari Spence, saw around 20 women take part in a demanding programme of varied fitness activities over 10 hours to raise funds for the Together in Sport – Girls’ Space project; recognises that the initiative aimed to raise £12,000 to provide a safe and empowering environment in Rwanda where young women can build confidence and develop practical and life skills; applauds the strong backing from local businesses and the wider community, particularly female-led enterprises, which supported the event, and praises all those involved for demonstrating the positive impact of community-led fundraising in supporting international development and improving opportunities for young women.
