Commending Lifesaving Rescue Teams Honoured with PETA Award
The motion
That the Parliament commends the North Berwick RNLI volunteers and Coastguard Rescue Teams, alongside courageous members of the public, who were recognised with a PETA Hero to Animals Award following the dramatic rescue of a dog at Seacliff beach; notes that the incident saw a 10-year-old dog fall several metres into the sea, prompting bystanders to enter the water before emergency services responded swiftly with lifeboat and rescue teams to bring both the animal and those involved to safety; recognises the professionalism, bravery and teamwork demonstrated in challenging coastal conditions; notes the positive outcome in reuniting the dog safely with its owner; applauds PETA’s recognition of these efforts, and thanks all those involved for their commitment to protecting both human and animal life and for highlighting the importance of coastal safety awareness across East Lothian.
