Bankie John McGinn Goes to the World Cup with the Scotland National Football Team

The motion

That the Parliament recognises Clydebank-born John McGinn, who will be playing with the Scotland National Football Team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup; notes that the Scotland team opens its campaign on 14 June 2026 against Haiti before playing Morocco and five-time winners Brazil, as it looks to qualify for the knockout round of the tournament for the first time in its history; celebrates local players, such as beloved Bankie John McGinn; understands that, following his recent Europa League success with club side Aston Villa, John visited St Margaret of Scotland Hospice, whose staff had lovingly cared for his grandfather, to meet with patients and nurses; congratulates John on his success, and wishes him and the Scotland squad all the best in their World Cup matches.
