Recognising the Contribution of Elspeth Macdonald to Scotland's Fishing Industry

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the outstanding service and contribution of Elspeth Macdonald, chief executive of the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation, as she announces her intention to retire in March 2027; notes that she has served in the role since 2019 and has become what it considers to be one of the most influential and respected voices in the UK seafood sector; acknowledges her leadership during a period of significant change and challenge for the industry, including the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union, the COVID-19 pandemic and evolving fisheries and environmental policies; commends her work in representing Scotland’s fishermen and coastal communities at the highest levels of government and beyond, as well as her role in ensuring that the voice of the sector has been clearly and consistently heard; recognises her successful efforts in advocating collaboratively with industry and communities; thanks her for her years of dedicated service, professionalism and unwavering commitment to Scotland’s fishing industry, and wishes her every success in her retirement.
