Healing Arts Scotland Week 2026

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes Healing Arts Scotland Week 2026, which took place from 15 to 19 June 2026, bringing together artists, health professionals, researchers, community organisations, policy makers and members of the public from across Scotland and beyond; recognises that the programme featured events in communities throughout the country, including major gatherings in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee and Dumfries, alongside a wide range of online events and discussions; notes Scotland's longstanding reputation as a leader in arts and health policy; acknowledges the growing body of national and international evidence, including research supported by the World Health Organization, demonstrating that engagement with the arts can contribute positively to physical health, mental wellbeing and quality of life; recognises the value of creative activity in supporting prevention, recovery and rehabilitation across a range of health and care settings; further recognises that participation in arts and culture generates social, economic and community benefits, supporting employment, skills development, tourism, local economies and the sustainability of Scotland's creative industries, and commends the leadership shown by those involved in delivering Healing Arts Scotland Week 2026.
