Recognising Shona Watson as Banffshire and Buchan Coast's Local Hero

The motion

That the Parliament recognises what it sees as the tireless and life-changing work of Shona Watson, who runs the Buchan Giving Tree, a community charity based in Peterhead that supports families and individuals across the north east; congratulates Shona on being chosen as Banffshire and Buchan Coast’s local hero for the current parliamentary session; thanks her for her determined work in supporting those experiencing poverty or hardship by providing resources, food, clothing, furniture and gift packages; celebrates her birthday and Christmas gift initiative, which provides presents and food to families so that no child or young person goes without during holidays and for birthdays; believes that none of this would be possible without the sheer amount of time and effort put into the Buchan Giving Tree by Shona and her volunteers; thanks Shona for starting this wonderful organisation; recognises her as a true pillar of the community; acknowledges the importance of the Buchan Giving Tree to people and families across the north east, and wishes Shona and the Buchan Giving Tree every success in the continuation of their fantastic work.
