Bucksburn Swimming Pool Reopens
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the reopening of the refurbished Bucksburn Swimming Pool on 29 June 2026; notes that the reopening was marked by a ribbon cutting undertaken by Olympic finalist, Hannah Miley, and Helga Sheilds, a 98-year-old local resident who has lived across from the pool since its opening in 1970 and is a much-loved figure among Sport Aberdeen staff and the local community; understands that the facility has reopened following a £2.1 million refurbishment funded by Aberdeen City Council, delivering improved accessibility, enhanced energy efficiency and modernised facilities for local residents; recognises the efforts of the community who campaigned to retain and improve swimming provision in Bucksburn, and hopes that this much-loved pool will continue to be widely used and enjoyed for many years to come.
