Irvine Newtown Men’s Shed Named Regional Winner in Scottish Men’s Shed of the Year Awards 2026

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Irvine Newtown Men’s Shed on securing victory in Region 4, West Coast (South), at the Scottish Men’s Shed of the Year Awards 2026; notes that the awards are organised by the Scottish Men’s Sheds Association (SMSA), which promotes men’s health and wellbeing across Scotland; recognises the valuable contribution that men’s sheds make in tackling social isolation, supporting mental and physical wellbeing and fostering friendship and community involvement; acknowledges that more than 210 men’s sheds operate across every part of Scotland, supporting over 12,000 members; commends the volunteers and members of Irvine Newtown Men’s Shed for their dedication and positive impact within the local community; notes that the shed will now be considered for the national title by the SMSA board of trustees; welcomes the recognition given to organisations that strengthen community wellbeing and inclusion, and wishes Irvine Newtown Men’s Shed every success in the next stage of the competition and in all its future activities.
