Fèis Rois Ceilidh Trail and the Celebration of Gaelic Culture Across the Highlands
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Fèis Rois on the launch of its 2026 Ceilidh Trail, which will see talented young traditional musicians perform in communities across the Highlands, and beyond, throughout the summer; considers that the Ceilidh Trail is an outstanding professional development programme that has, for more than two decades, provided young musicians with paid employment, performance experience and the opportunity to build successful careers in Scotland's traditional music sector; acknowledges that many former participants have gone on to become nationally and internationally recognised performers, enriching Scotland's cultural life; commends Fèis Rois for its wider work in enabling people of all ages to participate in traditional music, song, dance and the Gaelic language through an extensive programme of education, tuition and community engagement; believes that organisations such as Fèis Rois play a vital role in preserving, promoting and passing on the rich cultural heritage of the Highlands, strengthening Gaelic language and identity for future generations while contributing significantly to the creative economy and cultural tourism; understands that Fèis Rois has become one of Scotland's leading traditional arts organisations and that its Ceilidh Trail was recognised nationally when it received the Community Project of the Year award at the 2023 MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards, and wishes all of the young musicians every success as they embark on what it believes will be an unforgettable summer of music, performance and cultural exchange.
