Lodged by Jenny Young (Scottish Labour) Standard Motion 1 supporter

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the East Loch Lomond Path, which is part of the West Highland Way, on being nominated as one of eight regional finalists in Britain's Favourite Path 2026; notes that the path, renowned for its beautiful and rugged features, was shortlisted from hundreds of nominations; understands that the annual competition is organised by the walking charity, Ramblers; thanks Ramblers for its work in promoting Scotland’s paths and walking routes and for encouraging more people to take up walking and become physically active; recognises the significant health, social and economic benefits delivered by outdoor recreation, with the West Highland Way alone contributing £23m annually to the Scottish economy, and believes that continued investment in the path network can help deliver even greater benefits for individuals and communities in Scotland.
