DUNDEE THE CARING CITY - REGISTERED CHARITY

That this House congratulates Dundee the Caring City on becoming Scotland's newest officially registered charity and on its ongoing Dundee Refugee Support project; notes the hard work of the group's volunteers who have co-ordinated the shipment of 50 tonnes of aid to refugees whose lives are seriously at risk across Europe, with another 25 tonnes planned; further notes the group's work within the local community which has helped various charities in Dundee battle the significant effects of the Westminster austerity agenda; welcomes the news that Dundee the Caring City, along with its Scotland-wide partners, has been nominated for the Community Recycling Network Scotland Awards due to the volume of recycling involved in the charity's work; commends the generosity of the people of Dundee and surrounding areas which has made it possible for the charity to co-ordinate such work; and acknowledges the similar work done throughout Scotland.
