The motion
That this House notes the growing humanitarian, security and governance challenges facing parts of sub-Saharan Africa; recognises that freedom of religion or belief, including the right to hold no religion, is a fundamental human right; expresses concern at the persecution of religious and belief minorities and the continued threat posed by violent extremist groups, whose actions undermine peace, development and human rights; welcomes the work of civil society organisations, faith leaders and international partners promoting interfaith dialogue, democratic governance and community resilience; and calls on His Majesty's Government to support freedom of religion or belief, conflict prevention, democratic institutions and sustainable development across the region, while working with international partners to address the root causes of instability and extremism.
