Baroness Butler-Sloss moved amendment 2, in clause 2, page 2, line 12, at end to insert: “( ) In subsection (4)(d) (matters to which court or adoption agency must have regard), after “the child’s age, sex, background” insert “and (except in relation to an adoption agency in Wales, to which subsection (5) applies) religious persuasion, racial origin and cultural and linguistic background.” The House divided:
