The Scottish Government has given a commitment to completing the dualling of the A96 between Inverness and Aberdeen by 2030. We are progressing with the programme to meet this ambitious target and have recently completed preliminary engineering and environmental assessment work along the route. A timetable has been published for the next stage of design with the route options assessment for the section between east of Nairn and east of Fochabers to commence early in 2016.
In addition we have announced a preferred option for the 30km Inverness to Nairn (including Nairn Bypass) section, are working towards publishing draft Orders for this section in 2016.
