Congratulating Flood Relief Providers
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the efforts of the many individuals, groups and organisations across Aberdeenshire who are providing relief in relation to the recent flooding; commends the quick and continued action by a number of groups across the region; notes that, among the many groups providing financial, physical, emotional and psychological assistance, is Foundation Scotland, which is providing grants of up to £500 to individuals and families affected, in addition to voluntary and community groups that are providing relief; welcomes that the Scottish Government will give each flooded household a grant of £1,500, regardless of whether or not it is insured, and that businesses will be entitled to receive £3,000; acknowledges that the Ballater Charitable Chiels continues to distribute funds to provide some financial assistance to flooded households, as well as providing physical help in moving items from flood affected properties; thanks the many volunteers who have given up much of their own time and resources to help individuals and families affected by the flooding, and wishes them success in their endeavours.
