Recent things Liz Smith has said in the chamber and in committee, from the Official Report.
17 Mar 2026 Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill (draft)
It is on occasions such as these, when the matter that is under consideration is so challenged by complex ethical, moral, legal and practical questions, that I have come to know the Scottish Parliament at its best. We saw that last week an…

17 Mar 2026 Building Safety Levy (Scotland) Bill (draft)
As I indicated earlier, I was pleased with the amendments that we agreed at stage 2, but there remains a percentage of developments in very rural settings that will be affected and the evidence that we took causes considerable concern. I a…

17 Mar 2026 Building Safety Levy (Scotland) Bill (draft)
I wish to say what I said at the start of my stage 1 speech:“Nobody could possibly doubt the far-reaching implications of the most appalling human tragedy at Grenfell tower in 2017, nor the importance of ensuring that nothing like that can…

13 Mar 2026 Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill: Stage 3 (draft)
Mr Greene makes an interesting point. I do not think that the act would be blocked because of the review having to be undertaken in successive periods. My amendments seek to ensure that, should the guidance change, there is proper parliame…
13 Mar 2026 Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill: Stage 3 (draft)

13 Mar 2026 Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill: Stage 3 (draft)
