Make the law be the same for cats and dogs when hit by a moving vehicle

What the petition asks
I strongly feel that a cat should be placed in the same category as a dog when hit by a vehicle because they are someones pet to. If you hit a dog by law you must call the appropriate authorities and inform them of the incident. By changing this law you could save countless cats lives.
My cat Milly was hit by a car. We wondered for days what had happened to her. We combed the streets looking for her, putting up posters. She was found a week later by one of our neighbors her lifeless body laying in the curb. All this heartache could have been avoided if someone had informed the authorities when it happened as our cat was micro-chipped, so we would have been informed sooner or her life could have actually been saved.
