What the petition asks
Knife crime in the UK has become a daily occurrence and lives are being lost. Action must be taken to rid the streets of knives for good. A life sentence isn't too harsh for being armed to kill.
Between New Year's Eve and the 23 of February 2018, 15 people had been stabbed to death in London, five of which were teenagers.
In the year ending March 2018, there were around 40,100 offences involving a knife or sharp instrument in England and Wales.
In 2017/18 there were 268 deaths currently recorded using a sharp instrument, including knives and broken bottles, an increase from the 216 recorded in 2016/17.
An estimated 40,000 knife crimes will be reported this year. This has got to stop.
