What the petition asks
Cancel the scheduled SATs
Children returning to school following 6 months at home need time to adjust to the learning environment and to to be amongst other children again. Teachers need time to help them.
Preparing for and taking SATs will add unjustifiable stress to this unprecedented and unchartered environment.
If independent internal assessment of children is deemed necessary an optional standardised test should be made available the results of which would not be published in league tables.
