Petition · past parliament
Ban private firework displays, unless silent, and to only allow public displays.

What the petition asks
To legislate to only allow private firework displays that are silent & licenced and to only allow public displays on 2 days of the year (New Year's Eve & the nearest Saturday to Guy Fawkes Night) except by special licence. To protect nervous pets, wildlife and humans. Particularly humans with PTSD.
51% of UK adults own a pet. Over 22% of people (not counting those in institutions) aged 16 years and over screened positive for PTSD in 2014 according to the gov.uk website. Special licences for all other than the limited allowance would make organisers (private or public) more accountable and traceable. The applications would also generate income for the authorities.
