Petition · past parliament

Recommend the recently published Race report led by Tony Sewell to be withdrawn.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

I would like Parliament to examine the report and debate it. It is damaging to the unity we are trying to build amongst people of different ethnicities in the United Kingdom. If this report cannot be withdrawn then it needs to be reviewed urgently.
It essentially blames black people for their experiences despite evidence to the contrary. It undermines the impact of the slave trade saying slavery helped African people transform themselves into a remodelled African/Britain. It dismisses the impact of racism on healthcare, particularly on mental health. This report is dangerous and emotionally abusive to black people.
