Do not ban students who fail maths or English GCSE from receiving student loans

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Students from disadvantaged background will be hit the hardest if this rule was to come into play. Higher education already has a huge class divide, and this will only further fuel it. We should be encouraging students to reach their goals, not limiting opportunities
Banning students who did not pass GCSE English and Maths from receiving a student loan, will only discourage many from even trying to get into higher education. This is not what education is about, education should be accessible to all.
