What the petition asks

Step in a stop high price hikes like other EU countries have done
These companies are making huge profits
The cost of energy is at a stupid high something needs to be done now

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The calculation of the energy price cap is a matter for the regulator Ofgem, which is operationally independent of the UK Government and House of Commons. You can find out more about how the price cap is calculated here: https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/information-consumers/energy-advice-households/check-if-energy-price-cap-affects-you.
