Petition

Withdraw the planned Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) mileage tax

Rejected 9 signatures

What the petition asks

Withdraw the planned eVED mileage tax. Work with motorists and industry on a fairer system that does not penalise EV and hybrid owners. If revenue is needed, apply changes equally across all vehicle types rather than introducing a new tax that targets only cleaner vehicles.
. EV and hybrid drivers already pay higher VAT, higher purchase costs, rising insurance and VED, including the £50k Expensive Car Supplement. Adding a mileage tax unfairly targets those choosing cleaner vehicles. If fairness is the goal, the Government should raise fuel duty equally for petrol and diesel drivers, not introduce a new tax that only affects EV and hybrid owners. Withdraw eVED and create a fair system.
