Petition
Extend rules for an MP misleading Parliament to include misleading the Public.

What the petition asks
There is an existing set of rules, processes, committees and penalties that relate to an MP misleading Parliament. The scope of this should be extended to include MPs who mislead the Public, providing a quick & cost effective way to close this loophole.
Misinformation & outright dishonesty has become prevalent in the communication & campaigning of some MPs. This undermines our whole democracy & tarnishes the reputations of all who serve in Parliament. MPs should not be able to influence voters by misleading them & the fact that there are currently no formal consequences for doing so is negligent.
