Petition

The negotiated agreement to rejoin the pet passport scheme must be finalised.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

We call on the UK Government to urgently finalise an agreement with the EU to allow Great Britain to rejoin the EU Pet Passport scheme.
As of 22/4/2026, EU-issued pet passports are no longer valid for GB residents and pet owners will need Animal Health Certificates (AHC) to travel to the EU.
The current system requires repeated veterinary certifications, increasing expense, administrative burden, as well as unnecessary cost, complexity, and stress for pet owners travelling between Great Britain and the EU.
Rejoining the EU Pet Passport scheme would restore a simple, safe, and efficient system for pet travel, while maintaining high animal health standards.
We urge the Government to prioritise and conclude negotiations to reinstate UK participation in the scheme without further delay.
