Petition

Install air conditioning on all public transport in the UK

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

We ask the UK Government to introduce a legal requirement for all public transport vehicles in the UK, including buses, trains, and underground services — to be fitted with effective air conditioning systems that are properly maintained and operational during warm weather.
Public transport in the UK regularly becomes extremely hot and uncomfortable during warmer months, particularly during heatwaves. With rising temperatures linked to climate change, this issue is becoming more serious each year.
Overheating in confined public transport spaces can lead to dehydration, dizziness, fainting, and in extreme cases, medical emergencies. It can also discourage people from using public transport, pushing them toward private car use and increasing congestion and emissions

Why it was rejected

There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.
