Tartan Day Pipers

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Dumbarton Junior Pipe Band on its successful trip to Estonia in the week of 2 July 2001 which raised the profile of both Scotland and piping; welcomes the initial move by the First Minister to facilitate the convergence of 10,000 pipers on Tartan Day in New York in 2002, and believes that the Scottish Executive should utilise this experiment to market Scotland throughout the United States and Canada.
