A Smart Successful Highlands and Islands

That the Parliament notes the launch of the new strategy, “A Smart Successful Highlands and Islands”, by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE); recognises the contribution already made by HIE to the economy of the Highlands and Islands, reflected in low unemployment and growth in population; welcomes the commitment to a diverse, dynamic and sustainable economy made through investment in increasing skills, in attracting more people to live, work and study in the region, in improving transport links and in strengthening local communities, and looks forward to the implementation of the strategy.
