Longannet Power Station
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Scottish Power on its decision to fit Flue Gas Desulphurisation technology at Longannet Power Station in Kincardine; notes that the power station currently generates 25% of Scotland’s electricity; further notes that this decision will allow the burning of indigenous coal in full compliance with environmental legislation; welcomes nearly a quarter of a billion pounds investment and the creation of 300 construction jobs in Fife, and agrees that coal continues to have an important part to play in meeting Scotland’s energy needs.
