The motion

That the Parliament is concerned by proposals to move the Scottish Qualification Authority’s offices from Midlothian; notes that the Minister for Schools and Skills has not ruled out such a possibility; acknowledges that the SQA is a major employer in Midlothian, with more than 200 permanent posts, 67% of which are currently filled by Midlothian residents; recognises that there are fewer than 20 employers employing over 100 people in Midlothian, and understands the importance of keeping jobs locally in the county to support the local economy and minimise the environmental impact of any relocation.
