The motion

That the Parliament celebrates the work of the Fife Women's Technology Centre, which is based at the Miners' Institute in Lochgelly; admires what it sees as the commitment and dedication of the staff and students who, over the years, have worked assiduously to make a difference to the many women who have trained at the centre and have seen their lives transformed by continuous development, and understands with regret that what is considered to be this unique and specialised centre has been the victim of central and local government withdrawal of funding, which will result in it closing at the end of June 2012, leaving what is regarded to be one of the most disadvantaged areas in Scotland without any specialist women's technology training at a time when, it understands, women are at the sharp end of all cuts from both central and local government.
