Nelson Mandela
The motion
That the Parliament deeply regrets the passing of Nelson Mandela, who was also known as Madiba; recognises what it considers the great contribution that he made to helping to develop a non-racist, non-sexist world; considers that the people of Scotland will applaud his legacy of pursuing both a more democratic and a fairer South Africa and world and for removing the term "apartheid" from the political lexicon, and believes that, even while incarcerated in prison and since his release, Madiba was a giant of global political and social democracy.
