New Golf Tourism Initiative for Dumfries and Galloway
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the launch of the Dumfries and Galloway golf partnership, which includes all of the region’s golf courses, the South of Scotland Golfer’s Association, Dumfries and Galloway Council, the Scottish Golf Union, VisitScotland and a number of accommodation providers and visitor attractions; notes that the group has been awarded £50,000 by a variety of sources including the private sector, Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Legacy 2014 plan, the South of Scotland Business Competitiveness Project and the VisitScotland Growth Fund; understands that the funding will deliver a year-long programme of activity including development of the current VisitScotland Dumfries and Galloway golf website detailing clusters of clubs and businesses; further understands that activity will include online sales of the region’s golf pass as well as marketing and PR activity both in the press and online; considers that Dumfries and Galloway offers an excellent range of golfing visitor experiences, and hopes that the partnership will prove to be a success.
