Congratulations to the Getting Better Together Project

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Getting Better Together project on being awarded a £512,152 Investing in Communities grant from the Big Lottery; understands that the Shotts and Wishaw friends together project will operate for over five years and will bring older people together with others in the community; believes that the need for this was identified by the Getting Better Together project itself, with assistance from the Wishaw, Murdostoun and Fortissat Consortium for Reshaping Care for Older People; notes that the project will be complemented by Getting Better Together’s other befriending and wellbeing projects that were launched earlier in 2014; considers it important to look after the social as well as the physical wellbeing of Scotland's older people; congratulates the executive manager, June Vallance, on organising the application for the award; notes the hard work of June and the other people who have got involved on behalf of the community, and wishes the group every success for the future.
