Motion · S4M-11936 · 17 Dec 2014
European Parliament's Recognition of Palestine
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that the European Parliament has voted in principle to recognise Palestine as an independent state; understands that MEPs saw this as being key to the advancement of peace in the Middle East; notes that the vote follows Sweden becoming the first European country to formally recognise the State of Palestine and informal votes being passed in the UK, Ireland and France, and believes that this is an important step on the road to securing lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
