The Challenges and Opportunities for an Ageing Population in North Glasgow
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates NG Homes in north Glasgow on its recent Are You Talking to Me? The Challenges and Opportunities for an Ageing Population event, which was supported by Age Scotland; understands that statistics show that heads of households over the age of 65 are expected to increase by 54% between 2012 and 2037; further understands that the event was organised to consider the issues, challenges and opportunities that an increasingly ageing population presents; believes that issues such as housing provision and support, social isolation and loneliness, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, accessing financial advice and assistance, transport, food and other services were all discussed; further believes that the meeting also focused on promoting a positive image of older people and the positive impact that they can have on communities through their knowledge and skills, and commends NG Homes for hosting this discussion and all those who participated for their insight.
