The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges that Korean Air and its sister company, Hanjin Travel, have confirmed that they will introduce a direct service between Scotland and South Korea; understands that this will be the first such service and will begin operating between Glasgow and Seoul airports in August 2016; believes that this will allow over 1,000 South Korean tourists to visit Scotland; understands that Hanjin Travel group is one of the leading travel companies in South Korea and has played a significant role in developing and boosting the country’s tourism industry; believes that, in recent years, it has launched similar services with Oslo and Marseille airports and hopes to introduce further flights from Glasgow in 2017; considers this to be a great milestone for the airport that demonstrates that Scotland’s global appeal as a tourist destination is thriving; hopes that the service will inspire other international carriers to secure links with Glasgow Airport, which, in 2015, recorded a 13% increase in numbers, which represents its largest ever, and was named as the UK Airport of the Year, Scottish Airport of the Year and the Best Airport in the UK with 3-10 Million Passengers, and hopes that the airport will continue to thrive and enjoy success with all of its projects.
