The Hawick Paper Launch
The motion
That the Parliament celebrates the importance of local newspapers to communities across Scotland; notes that, in an age when people are increasingly accessing news from a variety of sources, some newspapers are going through challenging times but that, despite this, there will always be a role to play by print media; welcomes the great news that a new publication, The Hawick Paper, is set to be launched in the Scottish Borders; believes that local newspapers are one of the best sources of information about what is happening in the local area; asserts that a varied free press has a vital role to play in holding locally elected officials to account, and wishes the team at TheHawick Paper the best of luck.
