Aberdeen Holi Mela Festival
The motion
That the Parliament commends the Indian Association of North East Scotland on yet another successful Holi Mela Festival of Lights; understands that the traditional Hindu festival marks the beginning of spring after a long winter; further understands that the festival is linked with themes of joy, celebration, good triumphing over evil, and friendship; notes that the festival, which was held in Westhill, was attended by more than 1,000 people and involved a range of activities including traditional colour throwing, and expresses its sincere hope that the festival continues to go from strength-to-strength.
