The motion
That the Parliament celebrates the life of Pawel Adamowicz, the mayor of Gdansk in Poland, who died on 14 January 2019, after being stabbed when taking part the previous day in an annual charity fundraiser for medical equipment for children and other disadvantaged groups in the city that he represented; understands that Pawel was a popular politician in his home town and gained recognition for his liberal political views, including vocal support for LGBT people throughout his two decades in office, having first been elected in 1998; considers that there is no place for violence in politics, and condemns the brutal killing and offers its sympathies and solidarity to his family.
